HISTORY:
This mechanical calculator is named "FELIKS"
in reference
to Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky
father of the "Cheka" (first secret police in Soviet Union).
"Cheka" later changed to become to be the KGB.
Dzerzhinsky in 1924 had set up a factory in Moscow
to produce mechanical calculators.
Later also this calculators (also called arithmometers)
were also produced in Kursk (where this one was built).
This type of calculators were produced and used in
Soviet Union
until 1970s when they were
replaced by electronic calculators.
