RARE KILLER HISTORIC 1875 S SADDLE RIDGE HOARD GOLD LIBERTY COIN PCGS AU53
In 2013 a couple walking their dog on their Northern California property in the spring discovered the biggest and most valuable gold coin hoard ever unearthed in the United States. They were treading the same well-worn path they’ve trod hundreds of times for the dog’s daily constitutional when they spotted the rusted top of a metal can sticking up out of the eroded ground. They dug the can out with a stick and took it home. The eight cans contained a total of 1427 United States gold coins, 1373 were coins, 50 were coins and four were coins.
Several years ago, I purchase several of these Saddle Ridge Hoard coins when they were first listed for sale on Amazon.
Today, up for auction is one of them. It is a fantastic RARE TYPE 2 Liberty coin from the fabled SADDLE RIDGE HOARD.
You hardly ever see these type 2 Saddle Ridge coins, almost all of them were the later type 3 coins. It is a beautiful original untouched coin authenticated by PCGS as AU53 and is in its original holder.
Also included is the original custom wood SADDLE RIDGE BOX it came in as well as the historical booklet outlining the discovery as well as listing all the coins found.
Rarely do these coins come up for auction on Ebay and hardly ever a type 2 one!
I am the original purchaser of this coin.
It is a wonderful very bright AU53 example without any issues or problems.
Most of the Saddle Ridge Hoard coins were cleaned to remove the toning deposits and come with that designation on the label from PCGS.
This one has not been cleaned and is in its original as found condition.
You will love this coin. It is in wonderful as found condition having been buried in the ground for over 120 years and is in the same condition as when it was first put in that tin can and buried.
