The usage for t he 2 kind of thickness blades:
The thick 0.5 one is for the first time coarse putty. It needs to be flat. Its blade is hard, so it scrapes very flat, that is to say, the base course is flat
Generally speaking, when the putty is used for the second time, it needs smooth surface. When the blade is thin, rigid and flexible, it will have better result
If the 0.5-thick blade is used directly on the smooth surface, it will be very hard, and the scraped wall will have a rough feeling. It can be scraped out with the 0.35-thick blade, which has good flexibility and surface gloss. There is also a second smooth putty, the knife mark is small.(When you use 0.35, the flatness of the surface will be very good when you search the surface. Besides, I make a round edge to make the cross mark between the last two edges very small)
Strengths of blades:
Scraper: 0.35mm is small fillet, 0.5mm is right angle
0.5mm right angle to include flatness, 0.35 fillet is smooth surface putty to reduce the knife marks.
