Vintage Burroughs adding-machine model J289. Complete but missing power cord.
I bought this with an intention to re-search how
real-engineers
came to the idea of developing a computer from simple adding machine. I dont have time to re-walk the way those engineers did; however, I did find out that memory is a major factor. Fundamentally, computer is an adding machine with memory.
Energy do the work, memory do the control.
With energy and without memory: object can do linear work.
With energy and with memory: object can do complex work.
Memory is essential. The Artificial Intelligence (AI)  is just a
energized-object
with
very large
memory. Memory use to store programming, and also use store experiences that AI have encountered. AI will recall this event when it face a similar situation in future, and acting accordingly (
this attribute can be seen as learning-ability
). AI is smart, because it have "learning-ability"; AI is not intelligent because it
will never have creative-ability
. Whoever compare AI to human kind is just delusional person.
